Allied Wireline Completes Field Commercialization of Open-Hole Logging Service Offering

January 3, 2011

Houston, TX,  January 3, 2011 – Allied Wireline Services, LLC (“Allied”), a U.S. oilfield services company, announced today that it has successfully completed the field commercialization of its open-hole logging services. During the fourth quarter of 2010, Allied completed all of its planned test well runs, as well as commercial jobs for a diverse set of initial customers in the Mid-Continent region, some of whom have already used the company for follow-up job activity.

Allied’s first commercial open-hole logging job was the Sprowls 1-14H located in Grady County, Okla., a newly-drilled well that is operated by Continental Resources Inc. (NYSE: CLR). The well reached a total measured depth of more than 17,600 feet and a total vertical depth of almost 13,000 feet. On this particular well, Allied provided a complete suite of logging services (Induction Array, Lithology Density, Compensated Neutron, Multi Array Sonic and Gamma Ray), and its “quad combo” tools, which it believes are the shortest in the industry, reached a deviated depth of more than13,250 feet.

In early 2010, Allied signed a multi-year supply agreement with GE Oil & Gas (“GE”) for its open-hole Ultrawire Formation Logging (U-FLT) suite of products, including high-end formation evaluation sensors that are reliable and easy to maintain. GE’s Ultrawire is a high-speed, high-capacity digital communication tool bus that permits greater amounts of data to be gathered from more advanced tools, eliminating multiple tool runs. It also converts high voltage DC power to low voltage DC power, extending tool life and increasing reliability.

Allied’s open-hole logging units have been manufactured by the ASEP Elmar division of National Oilwell Varco (“NOV”) and incorporate state-of-the-art technology for logging units. According to NOV, Allied is the first company in the United States to utilize its e- drive technology in its UniTruck format. Central to this unique design is a one-piece, high-strength molded body, which is mounted to the NOV-patented aluminum floor. The e-drive is a fully electronic winch system controlled by the SmartMonitor using information from Well Profile Prediction software, providing additional efficiency and safety.

Larry Albert, president and chief executive officer of Allied, commented: “We are pleased to have achieved these important customer milestones for Allied. It is especially rewarding to have both our people and equipment perform flawlessly in our first commercial job for Continental Resources, one of the largest and most active independent oil and gas companies in the country. I have known Continental’s executive team for three decades, and I appreciate the opportunity to provide logging services for such an important well.”

“Allied Wireline delivered a quality product at a competitive price, and the service provided was exemplary,” said Andy Rihn, Continental Resources’ company geologist. “We look forward to using Allied Wireline on future logging jobs.”

“Our focus is on the highest level of customer service, and it is our goal to exceed expectations each and every time we are on location,” Albert said. “We have formed our company around industry veterans and cutting-edge technology, ensuring Allied meets the needs of the oil and gas industry for years to come.”
